Bulk Ordering from WeLoveColors.com

So for all those that are cosplaying (which I guess is everyone who's reading this), I'm going to be doing a bulk order from WeLoveColors.com since I don't want people to spend $5 more than what they should on shipping and handling.

This is for those who are doing the K-ON! cosplay. Everyone except Ritsu needs to get tights/thigh highs, so Connie, inform Alison. After searching the site, I've come up with this:

Mio - teal

Yui - white vertical striped thigh highs (sorry, they only had thigh highs)

Mugi - kelly green

To let you know, for those who have a Windows PC, your color profile on your monitor is colder (color-wise) compared to a Mac (which reflects real color; I heard all this from a friend), so you might want to check just in case.

I'll be getting the microfiber, no matter that it's $2.50 more than the nylon and $4.50 more than the regular, which aren't as comfortable. I can also get the nylon if someone convinces me.

On another note, I'll be getting Motions Oil Sheen Spray which should help preventing tangles in long wigs. I've already gotten my wig and worn it twice, once to try it out and the other out for a day, and I realized that it tangles VERY easily.

Oh, and I'll be wearing my Chrome cosplay for Halloween!

K-ON! Update

So I have officially ordered my wig, as of last week. It cost $50.50 for a 30 inch long wig, which is pretty good since I've looked at wigs of the same quality, thickness, etc. and they're about $50 w/o shipping and handing, so I think that my order was okay... still pricy but okay. I'll update when my wig comes in. I can hardly wait!

Update about dress: So since there's no one that we know that can just use reference pictures to make a dress, I went out of my way to ask some of my UT friends and I found someone to make my Mio dress. Apparently it costs $80 just for labor and I have to buy the fabrics myself (not that I really mind since during the summer, I actually went out and found good fabrics). Apparently $80 is already cheap and I've been talking to friends about it. Most say that it's a pretty good price since it's tailor made, but another friend said that it was a tad expensive...

I have no idea what to say back to the dress maker. Should I haggle? Should I just go for it? I still have to get my socks and gloves, and don't forget the top hat! I still have so much to get, and I'm trying to limit myself on the price of cosplay stuff.

We still have to worry about the passes (WE HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE! Apparently, Jenny Xiao wants to come along) so that's 11 people. There's always hotel to think about. Do y'all want to have complimentary breakfast at the hotel? (Not that it's really complimentary since it's included in the hotel rate, but that all depends on the hotel itself) I need HELP! I honestly like that Marriott on West End in Dallas, but it's $149 per night and there's $18 per day for parking. We have the people, we have the cars, we have the cosplay (in progress), but we still need to get everything done...

I was hoping that we could get everything done so that we wouldn't worry too much about it next year. I'm starting harder classes next semester so I need all the time I can get (not that I'm free this semester either D: ).

Hello about 4 people reading this thing xD

So A-Kon 2009! All I can say is that it was a pretty okay event. And I'm saying it's okay because I didn't see any new Mario plush I wanted to buy... or I did, but didn't really interest me :/

Our Hitman Reborn cosplays started this whole thing and the photo shoot thing was kinda confusing for everyone. But hey!! I've met some awesome people and what are the chances that I'll see those people again? The next year at the same con... or maybe even at a different con. Still, not likely.

So I checked cosplay.com and wanted to see if any of the pics have been posted, found out that the Lal Mirch I met is in College Station. How about that? Decided to p.m. her because she was thinking about going to Oni-con this year. So we gets to talking, couple p.ms later she told me that she's a sophomore at A&M. Hey! we're in the same year! How cool is that?!?!!

But get this... we're talking about studying abroad and languages and such, she told me she was taking Japanese this year. I thought that was pretty cool, I'm taking Japn 101 section 502, switch into my class!! :O or tutor me if you're already in some advance class haha.

Next time I open my message, "OMG I'M IN JAPN 101-502! holy shit lol. Like no joke, been in it since i registered in may lol. 12:40 pm - 1:30 pm MTWRF Zachry Engineering Center ? small world is small lol. that would have been hilarious if we hadn't talked here and then i recognized you in class lol, been like "yamamoto?"

Blew my mind! like a brainsplosion!! How crazy is that?

Anyways, all I've done for my future cosplays is research. So that's my update.

Mio Project - Day 1

So I actually started working on the project today (or rather yesterday), and this doesn't include all the research that went into finding out the dimensions of the bass or what kind of bass it was...

This is what the bass looks like as I printed out life-size. It's actually a pretty good size considering it's supposed to be about 48 inches in length.

And this is how big the piece of cardboard for the body of the bass compared to my face. It really freaked me out to see how big the body of the bass was compared to my face... Erika didn't take a picture of me smiling, so you're going to have to stand the fact that I'm frowning ;P

Now that I have some part of the bass guitar done, I have to start looking for more cardboard at Sam's or Costco, whichever one I go to first XD.

If anyone wants more pictures (which is only about 3 more), I'm willing to upload to Facebook. Just tell me so!

Daft Punk Project - DAY 1.5

We were planning to work on the helmets today but we ended up just playing Katamari Damacy.

Daft Punk Project - DAY 1

Today, Julie and I went out to Hobby Lobby and got blocks of styrofoam. They came in parts so we glued them all together, then we waited. We also got a styrofoam head mannequin :O to help us judge how big we needed to make the helmet without having to put our heads next to the block it and look stupid.

Here is the block of styrofoam with a binder on top of it while we were waiting for the glue to dry. You can see the head too.


After the glue dried, we started working down the styrofoam with a cheese grater we got from Randalls, where we also got some ginger ale and TWISTED CHEETOS PUFFS! Originally, the plan was to shave off a bunch of styrofoam and then use the shavings to mold our helmet, BUT IT TURNS OUT that's not how its supposed to work at all. So instead we started sculpting the block into the helmet mold, which is actually how its supposed to work.

So after about an hour of intense styrofoam grating we called it a day. It is actually looking pretty nice.
